boy + dog + pool

Thumbnail image for boy + dog + pool

We spent the day at the pool (not ours) with a dog (not ours) and it was pretty magical.
Reid(7) and Taffy(dog years) splashed, swam, jumped and fetched for hours.
At first Reid was throwing a ring into the pool for Taffy to fetch.
Then Taffy started dropping a torpedo into the deep end for Reid to fetch.
After [...]

Thumbnail image for slices of vail

We were in the Vail Valley last week.  It was incredibly beautiful.
And the perfect temperature…in the shade.
I have 1000s of pictures.  Approximately 67% of them are of poppies.
The poppies were so vivid.  I may post a poppy a day for the rest of the year…
Many of the photos above are from the Betty Ford Alpine [...]

Thumbnail image for summer park

We visited Winter Park, CO on Sunday.
Get it?
The title of this post is Summer Park.
And it is really Winter Park.
A few days of vacation can really unleash my creativity.

Winter Park has an alpine slide that requires anyone over 45 inches to ride alone.
My first impression was…obviously, they haven’t seen Reid(7) drive.

it’s april, let’s talk santa

April 9, 2010

Last Christmas was a complete disaster when it came to the whole Santa thing.
Ryan(8):  There is no such thing as Santa Claus.
Rhett(4):  YES THERE IS…followed by screaming, crying and a very loud…MOMMY!  RYAN SAID THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS SANTA.
Reid(6):  Santa is dead.*
*Read the Santa is dead story here.

It was a huge relief to [...]

Math time

January 20, 2010

My home is divided into time zones, but not in coordinated lines of one hour intervals like the real world.  Each house clock is the epicenter for it’s own random [...]

They get it

January 19, 2010

It may be because it is rare,
or because it often requires a long trip,
it appears that Texas born and bred boys…
truly value a good snowbank.
Snow is not a static object to be observed,
but something that requires active participation.
Snow calls their names.
Snow plays along.
Snow giggles.

Potluck – Supersize me

September 13, 2009

It is back. I think.
It is Monday Potluck…

*Try to stay seated in your wildly applaudic state*
And now for a little…er, longish story entitled “Do I need to be super sized?”
Here is a little background:

Blog-Stedman and I have always laughed at the state of rental cars in America after seeing that commercial.  It appears to [...]

Photos with 14 day delay

August 22, 2009

A few weeks ago we were in the Vail, CO area.  I love summers in Vail.  There is nothing that isn’t breathtakingly beautiful from every angle.  It is really fun to take pictures there because it is hard to get a bad shot.
Covered Bridge.

Crow’s Nest.
Cargo Net.
Ship’s View.
Random acts of wildflowers.
Boys on a mission.
On the top [...]
